Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld staged this epic show at the Great Wall of China this past Friday. It cost about $10 million, but it was all worth it. First fashion show to be seen from the moon??! 88 models and 88 meters of runway later, it is going to leave a lasting impression.

Went to check out the T-Mobile Sidekick LX Launch Party featuring Kanye West. The event was two nights ago, held in Griffith Park. Oh man, what a show. Coming this December in Osaka, Japan is the country's first building-mounted free fall amusement ride called Yabafo. It will be mounted onto an exterior wall of a 12 story entertainment complex called namBa H!PS. The ride will drop down 200 feet from the top at 50mph. This ride is being designed by architect Shin Takamatsu.

As many of you know they released their record online allowing the customers to pay what they wanted to pay for their new record. Gigwise.com is saying that they sold over 1.2 million records in week 1 and brought in $9.6 million. Not bad for a week of work. Congrats, it's going to be a real good Holiday season for them...

Alex Roy went from NY to L.A. in a record 31 hours and 4 minutes in his BMW M5. I grew up my whole life in L.A., specifically in the heart of the city, Hancok Park area. This is the area that is centrally located in the middle of L.A. L.A. L.A. if you catch my drift.

Every Sunday on Larchmont Blvd., the street that is called "Larchmont Village" where there are shops, restaurants, etc., there is a farmers market. I haven't been there in a few weeks since I've been out of town so much, but decided to stop by this week.

I saw this truck that was really cool, a chicken truck with a rotisserie inside of the truck. I spoke with the chef for a bit, apparently the owner got the idea on one of his trips to France. Check it.

Pretty interesting what he is doing, it is a design competition asking what would New York City do if it were a hit by a hurricane as catastrophic as Katrina. My friends BK and David Weintraub stopped by to get some new Five Four. I've been friends with David since our days at USC, glad to see him accomplishing what he set out to do.

Stopped by the Intermix store for the opening of their new store on Robertson Blvd. in L.A. The coolest part of the store was the tree that was in the store. Apparently the tree was there before they started building the store, so they decided to keep the tree and build around it. Pretty impressive site to see.

Bizarre site at dinner tonight at El Compadre in Hollywood. There was a group of guys dressed up as Incas, but they all had high tech gadgets, but looked like they were from the 13th Century. Real crazy, I'm still confused. It was pretty funny though, we were all amazed at the site, meanwhile they were with a woman that looked like a pornstar. L.A., gotta love it.

Started shopping early in Tokyo, streets as usual were jam packed.

The new Ralph Lauren store opened up this year, ode to the greatest fashion designer in the world.

The Prada store is one of the most amazing stores I've ever seen. The design of it is on another world.

In the evening time, we hit up some shops in Harajuku.Came to a vintage shop that had jeans dating all the way back to 1890. Keep in mind that these jeans started off raw at some point 117 years ago...

100% Natural...no one can create this kind of wash, comes with age...

Later in the evening, we headed to dinner with some friends for another great Japanese meal. I can truly say I've only had incredible meals in Japan.

Tokyo is nuts. Food, shopping, people here are unbelievable. It never stops.

Nightime in Shibuya is crazy packed.

Went to an amazing fusion style restaurant in Tokyo, one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Went to dinner with the Five Four distributor, Tomo. Started the night with a toast.

I wasn't planning on coming to Tokyo on this trip, but decided to hop on a flight last minute from HK to Tokyo. My last trip here was in '05, and it was a wonderful experience. It's definitely one of my favorite cities in the world.

We got into Tokyo mid-afternoon today. Got to our hotel and headed right out. Went by Shibuya area for a minute.

We headed down to Yokohama to visit a friend of ours and go experience some fresh Japanese sushi. Yokohama is right by the water, so you know they always have very fresh fish. This was one of the best sushi meals I've ever had, nothing can compare to this.

I tasted whale for the first time, quite interesting, lets just leave it at that.

Came back to HK this morning from Shanghai. Went to a meeting today at Kaihara, Japanese denim fabric mill, and noticed a picture on the wall. I'd been here before many times, but it's the first time I noticed this photo.

It's a photo of the Genius Group, a collective of contemporary fashion brands out of Italy that was founded in 1980 (great year by the way), as a parent company that would spawn on many brands, some still around today. The brands include Goldie, Rivet, Retour, Katherine Hamnet, Replay and Diesel to name a few. The people in this photo have gone on to create and inspire the majority of the denim that is worn today.

On the first row, 2nd person from left is the Godfather of denim, Adriano Goldschmied. To his right, is the Renzo Russo, founder and CEO of Diesel. Both legends in the fashion world, especially in the denim industry.

Back in HK, we witnessed the light show in the harbor for the first time. It usually goes on at 8pm.

Next to our restaurant in the harbor, there was a big crowd around this ship called the Doulos. Apparently, its the oldest active passenger ship in the world, and it was here in HK.

USC Home Opener

As many of you know, Dee and I both went to USC. We are hardcore alumni and very proud of our USC roots. We went to home opener this year to support the #1 USC Trojans. It feels good being #1.

Game day tailgating is always NUTS. USC has a funny dynamic, because they mix the bougy with the tailgate, always a good time.

We met up with our friend Peter Kim, Owner/President of Hudson Jeans at his tailgate. YOU DON'T KNOW.

I started the day off with a beer bong.

So did Dee's brother (Five Four).

So did Peter.

So did Dee.

So did David Appel (Cohesive).

He was left in a small daze afterwards.

Peter Mintz, FF Northeast, flew out to L.A. to join us for the weekend to do some work and participate in the Five Four lifestyle.

Meanwhile, the other Peter looked like a man on a mission.

Traditionally, before the game starts, the USC marching band starts off playing from the campus, building up the anticipation for the fans all the way into the Coliseum. They marched right by us.

The stadium was going crazy, it was a full house.

As usual, USC won.

So finally we are back in L.A. after a week of hard work, high praise and wild nights. Good to be finally back home, unfortunately I'll be leaving for Hong Kong next week for 10 days. I haven't been home for more than a few days at a time the last 6 weeks.

Tuesday night at Tao was one of the most epic nights of partying at Five Four. Not only did we go through 21 bottles at our table, yes we drank them all, but it felt like the night never ended. After laughing, dancing, yelling, grabbing and pouring champagne over ourselves, the night finally had to stop at some point.

The club was super packed.

It also is Dee's birthday next week, so I decided to have them do a full cake/song/sparkles thing for him, happy birthday Gurudeep.

Party Like a Rockstar!

Brooke from Rock and Republic joined the festivities.

Alex (Five Four), J Dubb (Five Four) and Luis Barajas (Flaunt Magazine) were straight up animals on Tuesday night.

Even Mr. Kim joined in on the madness.

We took about 172 photos that night, I think these were the only ones safe enough to publish.

Table Plotting

So for tonight's party at Tao, the big Hudson x Creative Recreation party, Tony from Hudson, J Dubb and I plotted where the Five Four table would be in the club. Watching 3 grown men plot a table in the early evening after they've all had a couple of drinks after a long day at a trade show is definitely a site to see. I couldn't believe how stupid the 3 of us looked, it was hilarious. Check out the chicken scratch renderings of the table plotting.

Project Las Vegas / August 2007

I touched down into Vegas Sunday afternoon to oversee the booth build and sales meeting. Hectic day as usual, the day before a major show is always crazy.

Five Four is in Vegas for the Project Show, the premium/contemporary fashion show held twice a year. The show features established brands from the premium denim world, contemporary fashion as well as up and coming designer in those markets.

Stopped by the Hudson Jeans suite party tonight. Tony Chu from Hudson always is ready to rock.

Went to eat at Gyu-Kaku in L.A. Pretty good food. Check out this dessert platter that Dee ordered, marshmallows over an open fire...Mikey got his wisdom teeth taken out, still was enough of a trooper to go out and slam down the Voss. Peep the cheeks.

Stopped by Jon Alagem's house, as he was in town from NYC. Went to his room and looked at the rolling rack he had of clothes in his room. Front and center, an old school Five Four hoody from 2002...the good old days, stress free, naive and young!
